Gillian Metzger

Gillian Metzger is the Harlan Fiske Stone Professor of Constitutional Law and the faculty director of the Center for Constitutional Governance at Columbia Law School. She is  a leading administrative and constitutional law scholar and teaches in the areas of administrative law, constitutional law, and federal courts, with an emphasis on federalism and privatization. She is a recipient of Columbia University's Faculty Mentorship Award as well as the Willis L.M. Reese Prize for Excellence in Teaching. Formerly, she served as vice dean of intellectual life at Columbia Law School. She has also previously worked as an attorney with the Brennan Center for Justice and clerked for the U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Judge Patricia M. Wald of the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.
